It is the child in all of us that makes us love the opera. Each performance allows us to experience wonder, happiness, and sorrow with the same intensity we did as children. The Opera Guild of Northern Virginia believes that children are a naturally receptive audience to opera. Operas themselves do not tell complex stories, but instead speak in the language of fables, enhancing each emotional response with the beauty of the human voice and music. They are essentially fairy tales (some literally) expressed at the highest level of artistic sophistication. Each performance confers a lesson about human values, storytelling, artistic expression, and possibilities for the most elementary musical instrument; the human voice. Every nursery rhyme and lullaby a parent sings with a child is like a little opera.
The Guild relies purely on donations, sponsors, and membership fees to continue providing young people with these unique operatic experiences. We ask you to consider donating anything you can to support OGNV. Your donations will continue to provide for the enrichment of children's minds through the arts.
